uclick, llc has long been responsible for the successful distribution of well known comic strips, comic books, and cartoons; such as Garfield, Foxtrot, Doonesbury and more. Many of these popular titles are highly sought after directly through their GoComics.com website, both on the Web and on Mobile devices. After an initial "out of box" solution couldn't fulfill the marketing and technology goals of the GoComics.com channel, uclick selected Fli Digital to develop a customized mobile solution for their mobile initiatives moving forward.



The current solution consists of several key components in fulfillment of GoComics.com mobile strategy:

• Web site – The Web site is the “showcase” for all the available mobile content. The custom developed design and functionality was the result of a collaboration of the uclick and Fli Digital teams, yielding a well organized storefront to browse and preview content available on mobile devices. Driven by the Fresh Mobile Platform, users are able to preview all of the content available for their mobile device in the web environment. Games and application include handset support details driven directly from the actual game builds present in system. After the user selects an item to buy, the user is presented with a simple buy page, where they enter their mobile number, which sends an SMS message to bring the user to the WAP Site to complete the transaction.


• WAP Storefront - The WAP Storefront serves several purposes; it provides a destination for the SMS messages initiated on the Web site, and it provides a robust mobile storefront experience allowing users to browse and buy content directly from the mobile site.


• WAP Comic Reader - in addition to having a deep catalog of wallpapers, ringtones, video, animations, and games, the GoComics brand is best known for its highly sought-after catalog of comic books and daily comic strips. By incorporating these into the mobile site, End-users on the go can access their favorite titles in a mobile experience. Working with XML and API's provided by uclick, we are able to "pull" content on daily into the Fresh Platform, to be properly formatted and rendered for the mobile experience. The end result yields current comic books and strips.


• API - an important feature of the Fresh Mobile Platform is our ability to provide Web Services and API calls which allow clients to utilize the data under management in other ways. In the case of GoComics, they have actively developed a J2ME application available on-deck, of which their content storefront is driven by APIs available from the Fresh Mobile Platform.
